How do I connect DirecTv Satellite 72.5W to existing triple LNBF Dish?
I have a directv H10 receiver with triple LNBF dish and to add Russian Channels I need signal from DTV1 Satellite located at 72.5W orbital clot. What size dish, what type LNBF(Ku linear of circular polarization) and what type multi switch ???
To make it clear I do know I need a additional dish, I just need more detales on that dish.
Hi. The dish is called “DirecTV WorldDirect” and is much larger than the usual 22″ dish you might already have–around 30″. The multiswitch you want is the kind that has a “Flex Port” and the switch itself doesn’t seem to have an official product name. The “Flex Port” is designed to add these extra dishes to your system (such as the 30″ dish for internationals from 95W and the 18″ one used for local channels from the 72.5W slot you were asking about). There are no Russian channels on 72.5W. They are on 95W (Galaxy3) and are medium-power, Ku-band, using linear polarity.
You will also need a subscription–since you have to call DirecTV anyway to add these channels to your subscription they might offer you a no-cost or low-cost option to have the new dish installed and connected for you. It will probably cost less money to have DirecTV handle the logistics than it would for you to hire someone to aim the dish. By the way, it’s very hard to aim that 95W WorldDirect dish.
Have you considered DISH Network? They have substantially more international channels than DirecTV does and it only requires one dish called a SuperDISH. My four-TV system, which gets Chinese channels as well as all the other channels, was free with an 18-month committment.
