television production
I am doing a Television production projects for school. What can I do, to demenstrate how to do something?

This project will be shown be video taped. Just like what you would see on TV, when they are demonstrating how to do something. I have to come up with something by Monday.

Fred is pretty right on!

The easiest way to do this is to pick something that YOU know how to do very well. It can be anything from knitting to kicking a football. My suggestion would be something that is rather contained to a small area for ease of video taping.

Now, once you have picked what you will demonstrate … for our example, we’ll use making deviled eggs, since I did that recently and remember the steps quite well, you need to make out your storyboard or sequence of events.

Your storyboard is simply what will be in each shot. So, for deviled eggs …
1. Introduction
2. Boiling eggs.
3. peeling eggs
4. cutting eggs
5. blending egg yolks
6. filling eggs
7. finished product – conclusion

Now, you need to make sure you have all your necessary items assembled. Don’t forget the LITTLE STUFF!

For this project:

1 dozen eggs
1 pot
1 zip lock baggie (for blending egg yolks and squeezing into whites)
1 egg plate
Mustard – pre measured, 1/4 cup
Salad dressing – pre measured, 1/2 cup
paprika – 3 tbl
2 spoons
scissors

Lay things out in the order you will use them.

Now .. you need to write a short script for each part of your story board.
So, for the Introduction, you might say …
“Hello, my name is???.” In my family, deviled eggs are at every special occasion. My mother is famous for them and no family gathering would be complete if she didn’t make this contribution. Today, I’m going to share this great recipe with you.”
Do this for each portion of your story board.

Now you are ready to shoot!

Shoot each portion of the board individually and edit together at the end!

A hint … if you don’t want to actually BOIL the eggs for your video — start with 12 HARD BOILED eggs! :)

Hope this helped and works out for you (and, btw, it makes GREAT deviled eggs!)

Reprising their roles from the original London company are Colm Wilkinson (Valjean), Michael…
